LATEST NEWS - UPDATED 01/01/2008: DEFINITELY MAYBE A slightly revamped version of 'The Time Of Times', taken from this year's 'Born In The UK' album, is to be used in the film "Definitely Maybe". The film will be released on February 8th, while the song will be available digitally on February 4th as a download, or on the film's soundtrack. A MESSAGE FROM DAMON Hello everybody, this felt like as good a time as any to say hello to you all at last. The first and main reason is to let you all know I'm playing a 'secret' gig next week, Thursday 11th October at Sankey's new night 'The Aftershow'. There's no public awareness as to who plays at these nights, it's down to the artist to exclusively let you know, which is what I am doing now (I'm a week late though). Secondly, I like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to you all for your support over not only the last year, but the last 10 years too. September marked my 10th Anniversary as a recording artist, and my birthday this week psychologically marked the end of this current album's life cycle. Thanks to anyone who came to see myself and the band play this year. We've had some amazing and memorable shows and they never happen without a responsive audience, so thanks again if you were there. My intention is to release brand new material before the end of the year in the form of an EP or maybe MINI LP, even if it’s a collection of demos, I'm eager to move on creatively. The ambiguous and unofficial release of Damon's new strictly vinyl-only 'secret single' of 'Born In The UK' has now been sent to carefully selected stores around the country and will be available for purchase from next week onwards. The unique 'Fish 'N Chip' style packaging will come in 3 different colours and will be printed on 2 separate styles of paper. Each of the exclusive one sided test-pressing singles will be packaged in a unique 'fold-out' Badly Drawn Boy newspaper including a Badly Drawn Boy wooden chip fork. Supplies are limited to one portion per customer. NEW LP Last Wednesday evening at Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire, Damon's long-time partner Claire Hewitt laid down the final vocal touches which close the final track on the new Badly Drawn Boy LP 'Born In The UK'. The album has now been mastered and sent to the pressing plant and Damon's new label EMI aims for the LP to hit the record shop shelves in mid-October. The album will feature 12 new tracks (whittled down from a potential 40 recorded numbers!) and will be the first release since 'One Plus One' in 2004. More news on this will follow very soon. RARE BESPOKE SINGLES The first single from the LP, 'Nothing's Going To Change Your Mind' will be available in September while in the meantime a series of ultra-rare hand made and privately pressed single-sided singles will be made available via selected outlets. These releases could perhaps be the rarest pieces of BDB plastic so far, alongside the ultra rare 'All Oar Nothing' 7" (250 copies) and the hens' teeth UNKLE 5" disc 'Nursery Rhyme' (150 of). Other BDB collectables include the rare 'I Love You All' music box. EXCLUSIVE NEW TRACK ONLINE Many of you might have heard rumours of the title track 'Born In The UK' being played on daytime radio through the course of the week. As a special launch for 'The Real Badly Drawn Boy' website you are invited to listen to the track using our online record player. The player will be updated every month with exclusive custom-built EPs featuring new tracks, unreleased demos, instrumental tracks and select cuts from the BDB archive. For those who prefer their music flat, black and shiny (i.e. on vinyl) then keep your eyes peeled for limited edition releases - an activity we solemnly swear to remain committed to. ALIVE ON STAGE During the recording process of 'Born In The UK', Damon chose to develop his new tracks by working with a classic three-piece combo. Sean McCann and Alex Thomas also worked on 'One Plus One Is One' and have since been Damon's faithful touring band travelling the world over.
